European Union Ambassador Nicola Orlando has expressed that the Wilton Park meeting in London regarding Libya demonstrated increasing momentum and shared optimism to support the efforts of the UN mission to lead an effective Libyan-led political process.

In a post on “X,” Orlando remarked, “As a key partner in political, economic, and security sectors, the European Union has positively contributed to the Wilton Park meeting, advocating for a coordinated and constructive international approach.”

Orlando added that the discussions reflected the growing momentum and shared optimism for supporting the renewed efforts of the UN mission in leading an effective Libyan-led political process. He also noted a sense of urgency about the need for transparent and fair distribution of national wealth to protect families and future generations.

The EU Ambassador emphasized that the European Union has a strategic interest in a stable, united, and prosperous Libya, where all citizens can realize their full potential and aspirations.

UN mission head Stephanie Khoury, who had been participating in a three-day consultative meeting at Wilton Park at the invitation of Britain, shared on “X” that the meeting was part of her ongoing efforts to rally member states’ support for a Libyan-led political process facilitated by the United Nations. Khoury found it encouraging to perceive international support for the UN efforts to set Libya on a sustainable path towards security, stability, and sustainable development.
