The Martyr Atiya Al-Kaseh Teaching Hospital in Kufra, southern Libya, announced on Thursday the death of a Sudanese refugee and injuries to two others following a traffic accident near Jebel Al-Awainat, south of Kufra.

According to the hospital, the deceased, identified as 44-year-old Mutaz Allah Mahmoud Khater, succumbed to his injuries. The two injured victims were Habib Othman Al-Zain, 21, who sustained a fractured thigh, and Mohammed Tayeb Jubara, 23, who suffered a shoulder dislocation and other injuries.

In a separate incident earlier today, another traffic accident occurred on the northern ring road of Kufra municipality. The crash resulted in one individual sustaining a spinal fracture and another suffering from bruises, according to a statement posted on the hospital’s Facebook page.

These incidents highlight the dangers of Libya’s roads, particularly in remote areas such as Kufra. The local authorities have not yet commented on the causes of the accidents, but poor road conditions and reckless driving are common issues in the region.

The Martyr Atiya Al-Kaseh Teaching Hospital continues to provide emergency care to those injured in road accidents, underscoring the need for improved road safety measures and public awareness campaigns to reduce the frequency of such tragedies.
