French President Emmanuel Macron has revealed a convergence of views on Libya and the eastern Mediterranean issue between him, US President Donald Trump and the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The French President tweeted after tripartite phone calls, saying that the three parties have a common interest in peace and security, and that they will work to ensure that it is respected.

France entered the fold regarding the eastern Mediterranean crisis after tensions rapidly increased between Athens and Ankara. Paris announced that it would deploy two Rafale fighter planes and the frigate Lafayette in the eastern Mediterranean as part of a plan to support its military presence.

Macron previously expressed his country’s concern regarding the unilateral exploration operations carried out by Ankara.

The French President announced that his country would strengthen its military presence in the eastern Mediterranean to monitor the situation in the region to confirm its determination to abide by international law.
