Germany has expressed its willingness to provide the necessary support to Libya’s High National Electoral Commission (HNEC), to enable it to perform its duties to establish democratic elections.
This came during a visit conducted by the German Ambassador to Libya, Oliver Owcza, to the office of the Commission’s Council, where he was received by the Commission’s President, Imad Al-Sayeh.
HNEC reported that this visit comes within the framework of the international community’s support for the democratic process in Libya. It also reported the level of the Commission’s readiness to carry out any electoral process, approved in a future political settlement.
The German Ambassador discussed with Al-Sayeh the effectiveness, and efficiency of the international support supervised by the United Nations Mission in Libya. He also discussed the provision of assistance to the Commission in the field of international experience, and election technology.
The Ambassador also discussed HNEC’s ability to continue performing its duties, in light of the circumstances the country is going through.
