The Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, emphasized that the unity of Libya’s social fabric remains the country’s greatest line of defense.
These remarks came during Saddam Haftar’s official visit to the city of Brega on Thursday.
Addressing local elders, tribal leaders, and citizens who gathered to welcome him, Saddam Haftar conveyed the greetings of Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar and praised the historic role of Brega’s communities in safeguarding Libya’s sovereignty.
He applauded the values of loyalty, sacrifice, and courage that the city’s residents have demonstrated over the decades, from the resistance against colonial rule to their decisive role in defending Libya’s oil resources and participation in the 2014 Operation Dignity.
Haftar noted that Libya’s social cohesion is not only a cultural strength but also a critical factor in maintaining national security and stability. “The unity of our people is the safety valve of this nation,” he stated. “Brega and its people have shown time and again that they will not hesitate to stand for Libya when it matters most.”
He further noted that the Armed Forces remain fully committed to protecting the Libyan people, maintaining national security, and standing with all loyal citizens across the country to support efforts in state-building and enforcing the rule of law.
“The military will always prioritize the safety and stability of the Libyan people. Together with the patriots of this country, we will continue working toward a sovereign, unified, and secure Libya,” he said.
The visit comes at a time when national reconciliation, security cooperation, and local engagement are seen as essential steps toward sustainable peace.
