Libya’s Interior Minister, Major General Essam Abu Zriba, has praised the performance and readiness of security directorates across the country’s southern region, stating that the recent security deployment played a significant role in strengthening stability during the holy month of Ramadan.
Abu Zriba commended the level of discipline and preparedness demonstrated by security forces in key southern cities, noting that the expanded presence of law enforcement helped maintain order and improve safety across the region.
He stressed the need to fully implement agreed security arrangements, calling for higher levels of readiness and stronger coordination among all security bodies. He added that unified efforts remain essential to maintaining security control and ensuring long-term stability across southern Libya.
The remarks came during a meeting held on Thursday with senior security officials, including the head of the ministry’s southern office and directors of security directorates in Sebha, Ghat, Jufra, Ubari, and Al-Shati. Officials responsible for logistics, financial affairs, and general support units also attended the discussions.
The meeting reviewed current security conditions and examined operational challenges facing security directorates in the South. Participants discussed ways to improve performance, enhance coordination between departments, and activate field plans aimed at strengthening rapid response capabilities.
Officials also explored practical steps to address obstacles affecting security operations, with a focus on improving efficiency and ensuring sustained stability in the region, which has long faced security and logistical challenges.
The southern region of Libya remains strategically important due to its vast geography and border proximity, making effective security coordination a critical priority for national stability.
