SOHR Informs 1,400 Syrian Mercenaries in Libya Return Home

On Saturday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said that more than 1,400 fighters of the pro-Ankara Syrian factions have returned after their contracts in Libya expired.

According to the SOHR statistics, the number of conscripts who went to Libya has so far reached about 18,000 mercenaries of Syrian nationality. Among those mercenaries, there are 350 children under the age of 18.

About 8,500 of the pro-Turkish mercenaries returned to Syria, after the end of their contracts and taking their financial dues.

The number of jihadists who arrived in Libya is 10,000, of whom 2,500 are Tunisian citizens.

Earlier this month, SOHR reported that the Turkish government intends to reduce the salaries of mercenaries from the pro-Ankara Syrian factions who wish to stay in Libya.

After the mercenaries were getting a monthly salary of about $2000, Turkey reduced the amount to $600. This comes in light of the Libyan-Libyan consensus, which decreases the risk of conflict and the utility of such mercenaries.

On the other hand, SOHR monitored the return of a new batch of fighters to Syria after the end of their contracts in Libya. The number of returnees within the last 10 days has reached more than 1,200 fighters.
