The Minister of Foreign Affairs for Libya’s Interim Government, Abdel-Hadi Al-Hwaij met with Anders Nelson, the Honorary Vice-Consul of the Kingdom of Sweden. Nelson is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the English School in Benghazi.

During the meeting, they discussed a number of issues, including Libyan-Swedish relations, and the possibility of opening a European and Schengen visa office. This is to ease the burden on the sick, wounded, and businessmen in the city of Benghazi. They also discussed inviting Swedish companies to work in the reconstruction of Benghazi, and the rest of Libya.

Earlier this month, Al-Hwaij, welcomed Egypt’s call to hold an urgent Arab League meeting, to discuss the Turkish intervention in Libya. He called on the Arab League to activate the joint Arab defence agreement, as well as withdraw its recognition of the Government of National Accord (GNA). The GNA denounced Egypt’s call for the Arab League meeting, describing it as unconstitutional.
