On Monday, the head of the Libyan Presidential Council and Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez Al-Sarraj, issued a statement denouncing what he called ‘hate speech and incitement of violence’ which is adopted by certain Libyan media outlets.

According to the statement, Al-Sarraj reaffirmed his goal to maintain national unity, calling for commitment to the values and morals of the muslim community, and rejecting the use of all media platforms to stir discord and incite violence against innocent civilians.

The Prime Minister rejected and denounced any inappropriate and irresponsible speech that could incite violence among the Libyan people. He vowed that they would counter any conspiracy that sought to divide Libya and create animosity between the Libyan people, and that those who adopt violent hate speech would be brought to justice.
