On Monday, the Libyan National Army (LNA) and the Government of National Accord (GNA) exchanged prisoners for the second time this week in the Shwerif region, southwestern Libya.

Media sources revealed that five LNA soldiers and one GNA member were released.

The LNA’s Director of Moral Guidance, Major General Khaled Al-Mahjoub, said that both sides have exchanged prisoners under the supervision of the 5+5 Joint Military Commission (JMC). He stressed that the process will continue until all prisoners are freed.

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has welcomed the exchange of prisoners and urged both parties to accelerate the full implementation of the Geneva ceasefire agreement, signed in October.
