President of the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR), Ageela Saleh, has instructed the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya to allocate funding towards overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic.
This comes after an emergency meeting on Wednesday that was headed by Saleh and attended by Prime Minister Abdullah Al-Thani, Members of Parliament and Members of the Council of Ministers.
The HoR President called on citizens to excercise the utmost caution and follow all measures prescribed by the government. Saleh claimed that basic necessities and staple goods were available and would last until years end.
Speaking to experts in the healthcare sector, he discussed the preparations for quarantine facilities to confront the COVID-19 threat. He also ensured that the country had a sufficient stock of medicines and medical supplies.
Saleh emphasized that all citizens needed to commit to staying in their homes until the threat of the Coronavirus had passed. He sympathized with residents on the strict nature of the government’s measures, but stressed the health of citizens was his top priority.
