On Tuesday, Italian Defense Minister Lorenzo Guerini travelled to Paris, where he is due to meet his French counterpart, Florence Parly. The situation in Libya is set to top the discussions.
The two sides will discuss commitments in Libya, the Sahel region, the eastern Mediterranean, European defence, and bilateral relations according to the Italian news agency, Nova.
According to the Italian Ministry of Defence, Guerini’s visit comes within the framework of repeated consultations with Parly, by virtue of converging interests on security and defence issues.
On Monday, Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio travelled to Washington, where he discussed the Libyan crisis with senior US officials.
Di Maio is scheduled to meet with Secretary of State, Antony Blinken and Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi. He will also meet with the Director of the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Anthony Fauci.
