On Friday, the National Commission for Human Rights in Libya (NCHRL) called for the urgent removal of all foreign forces and Syrian mercenaries from the entire country.

These remarks coincide with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity (GNU), Najla Al-Mangoush’s call for the departure of all foreign forces from Libya.

The NCHRL also renewed its request to the Joint Military Commission (JMC) 5 + 5 to ensure the full implementation of the provisions of the Geneva ceasefire agreement, especially with regards to expelling all mercenaries, foreign forces and experts from the Libyan territories without further delay.

The Commission condemned some statements issued by a number of the political and military parties that call for the continuation of external military interference in the country, and incite violence against those who are contrary to them.

In addition, it urged the Presidential Council and the GNU to take a unified position that preserves national sovereignty and bears responsibility for providing protection to members of the government.

The Commission called on both the Security Council and the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) to expedite the work of the international monitoring mission charged with supervising the ceasefire, and to oversee the removal of foreign mercenaries and foreign forces being deployed on the Libyan territory.

Finally, it called on the International Sanctions Committee to work to prevent attempts of some parties and entities to impede the political path and democratic transition, abort efforts aim to hold the upcoming national as elections.
