The Libyan Doctor Ibrahim Abu Sheima, gastroenterologist and internal medicine consultant, has died in Belgium after being infected with Coronavirus.

Dr. Abu Sheima caught the virus while performing his work in a hospital in Belgium. After being infected, he stayed in the same hospital to receive treatment but his health condition quickly worsened and he died on Saturday morning.

Additionally, the Libyan Embassy to the United Kingdom has announced on Saturday that the number of Libyans in the United Kingdom who have contracted the Coronavirus has reached 50 cases, including seven being in a critical condition.

Libya’s National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced on Friday, April 10, that its laboratory at the Al-Kuwaifiya Hospital confirmed three new cases of coronavirus after analysing 106 suspected cases. The city of Benghazi has also recorded three new cases, raising the total number of positive cases in Libya to 27.

On Saturday, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced that eight patients infected with coronavirus had recovered in Libya, adding that no new cases or deaths had been recorded.
