On Thursday, Egypt hosted the first forum for the reconstruction of Libya at the Resta Hotel in the Egyptian city of Port Said.
The forum was attended by the Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts in the Eastern Region of Libya, Sami Abu Bakr Al-Saiti. A number of representatives of the Ministries of Youth, Sports and Industry and the General Federation of Libyan Trade Unions also participated in the event.
According to the Libyan News Agency, the forum’s activities will last two days. A large number of businessmen, and representatives of real estate and tourism companies in Egypt and Libya will participate. The event was organised by Egypt’s Al-Azima Real Estate Investment Company as well as the Al-Safa Al-Awal Company.
Members of the Libyan delegation praised the development experience of Port Said Governorate, and expressed their desire to transfer that experience to Libya.
Notably, the Prime Minister of the Libyan Government of National Unity (GNU), Abdelhamid Al-Dbaiba, and a number of accompanied Ministers visited Egypt last September and signed reconstruction contracts worth about $4 billion.
Among the most prominent projects that the governments of Egypt and Libya signed during the last visit are contracts for the construction of the 250 km Ajdabiya – Jalo road.
Libya also agreed on consultancy work to implement the Mellitah power station. They furthermore signed a project of the implementation of the C-Ring Road, one of the most important projects in Libya.
