Libyan National Security Adviser, Ibrahim Bushnaf met with the German Ambassador to Libya, Michael Unmacht. They reviewed the latest developments in the country’s political situation.
They discussed the challenges facing Libya, and the mechanisms to resolve them. They also spoke about enhancing bilateral relations, especially with regards to national security issues.
The two sides focused on the possibility of consensus between rival parties, given the current deadlock surrounding the political scene. As well as moving towards holding Presidential and Parliamentary elections soon.
The officials discussed ways to solve the Libyan crisis, and Germany’s contribution to supporting a solution.
Earlier in March, Chairman of High National Elections Commission (HNEC), Emad Al-Sayeh received Ambassador Unmacht in Tripoli.
HNEC said in a statement that the two parties discussed the latest developments in Libya’s political scene, and their repercussions on peace and stability.
Ambassador Unmacht affirmed the international community’s support for the Libyan people, and the national endeavours to hold elections.
He also expressed his government’s readiness to support Libya during this tumultuous stage, and achieve democracy.
Recently, Head of Libya’s Presidential Council (PC), Mohamed Al-Mnifi met with German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz to discuss the latest political developments in Libya.
The German Chancellor stressed the need to “consolidate the gains made from the first and second Berlin conferences, and not to drag the country back to square one.” He also called for holding Presidential elections on a consensual constitutional basis, and meet the aspirations of the Libyan people to elect their leaders. In turn, Al-Mnifi congratulated the German Chancellor on his new position, noting that “putting a permanent end to the crisis in Libya.
