On Wednesday, the Libyan Parliament held a session headed by Speaker, Ageela Saleh, and First Deputy Speaker, Fawzi Al-Nuwairi.

Official Spokesman, Abdullah Blaiheg said that they discussed the amended draft law on the state’s general budget for the year 2022, which was submitted by the new government.

Blaiheg added that MP’s were given time to review the draft law, and submit any observations to the Legislative Committee and the Finance Committee. They will then vote on approving the general budget for 2022.

Notably, Prime Minister-designate, Fathi Bashagha held a meeting on Saturday to discuss the observations submitted by the Parliament, and the regulatory and financial institutions regarding the general budget.

Bashaga stressed the need to take these notes into account in order for the budget and the unified salary scale to be passed by the legislative authority.

On Monday, Representatives of the Libyan Parliament and the High Council of State (HCS), in the Constitutional Dialogue Committee in Cairo announced the formation of a 3 + 3 subcommittee.

HCS member, Abdel-Qader Huwaili, said that the subcommittee “aims to reach proposals regarding the conditions for candidacy for the Presidency and government of Libya.”

In press statements, Huwaili added that a meeting will be held to discuss the outcomes of the 3+3 committee.
