On Saturday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a telephone conversation with his U.S. President Donald Trump to discuss the Libyan and Syrian files.

According to a statement by the Turkish presidency, the two leaders agreed to continue military and political cooperation.

Specifically, Trump and Erdogan agreed to continue pursuing stability in the Eastern Mediterranean region.

Since late 2019, Turkey has been sending fighters and military equipment to Libya’s Government of National Accord (GNA) in order to push back the forces of the eastern-based Libyan National Army (LNA) led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar.
