The mother of the Iraqi actress who was arrested in Tripoli said that the Special Deterrence Force (SDF) was behind the “kidnapping” of her daughter, Dalia Farhood from her home.
Nahla Fayez Abdullah, said her daughter called her on Wednesday evening and told her that she had been investigated “and nothing had been proven against her.”
“She told me that she will be referred to the prosecution the next day. Since that day, I have not heard anything. She was kidnapped, and there was no arrest warrant,” she told the Al-Arabiya Al-Hadath channel.
Abdullah added that the SDF stormed the house and searched Dalia’s room, and did not find anything. “They took Dalia, who conveyed to her father her fear of what is happening,” the mother added.
Abdullah noted that the Iraqi Foreign Ministry contacted us and sent a telegram to the Libyan Foreign Ministry. “No Libyan official contacted us to offer us any assistance in knowing the fate of my daughter,” the mother concluded.
For his part, Spokesman for the SDF, Ahmed bin Salem said that Farhood “wasn’t kidnapped, but rather is being held by the competent authorities, on charges of publishing content that is not appropriate for Libyan society.”
Bin Salem explained that the security services have taken the necessary legal measures regarding the arrest. He added that Farhood will be handed over to the competent authorities for investigations.
On Saturday, the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that it is “following up with great concern” on the fate of Farhood.
In a statement, the Iraqi News Agency quoted the Spokesman, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, as saying, “The ministry is following up with concern with the Libyan authorities to know about the fate of an Iraqi actress, Dalia Farhood who was kidnapped in Tripoli on Wednesday.”
