The Foreign Minister of the Libyan Parliament-designated government expressed its condolences and sympathy to Greece, following the death of five members of a rescue team in Libya.
The rescue team was involved in a devastating road accident on Sunday, en route to the flood-stricken city of Derna, after arriving in Benghazi.
Two vehicles collided head-on, resulting in the deaths. The collision also claimed the lives of three individuals from the oncoming vehicle, all of whom were Libyan nationals.
In a statement issued on Monday, the ministry conveyed its wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured, who received initial medical treatment in Libyan hospitals.
For his part, Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressed deep sorrow after the loss of five members of a Greek rescue team, in a tragic car accident in Libya.

Mitsotakis expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, and conveyed his sympathies to the 10 injured members of the team. He announced the country’s collective mourning, and pledged unwavering support from the state for those affected by this devastating incident.
The bodies of the deceased, two of whom remain unidentified, are currently being transported back to Greece. A C-27 aircraft has been deployed to Elefsina’s military base to facilitate their return.
Meanwhile, the injured team members arrived separately in a C-130 aircraft, touching down at Elefsina airport on Monday morning. They were then swiftly transferred to hospitals in Athens, receiving immediate medical attention, coordinated by ambulances from the 115th Combat Wing.
