“We want a ceasefire in Libya as soon as possible, through 5+5 military talks” French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said, adding that there are repeated violations of the arms embargo decision in Libya.

On Friday, Le Drian arrived in Berlin at the invitation of his German counterpart Heiko Maas, for bilateral consultations and a ministerial meeting devoted to the Iranian file, in coordination with their British counterpart Dominic Raab.

Alongside German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas, Le Drian called on Iran to respect its nuclear obligations, and said: “We expect Iran to abide by its obligations with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)” during a joint press conference between the foreign ministers of France and Germany in Berlin.

Regarding international files, the Minister discussed in particular the situation in the African Sahel region, the peace process in the Middle East, the relationship with Turkey and the situation in the eastern Mediterranean, as well as the Libyan and Iranian files, and finally relationships between the European Union and China.

The minister also discussed cooperation within the framework of the IAEA, and France’s continued support for the IAEA.
