On Tuesday, the United States called for an immediate end to foreign involvement in the Libyan conflict. It urged the warring parties to return to political negotiations.

In a statement, the Pentagon spokesperson said that Turkey has been heavily criticized by the international community in recent weeks, for recruiting fighters from Syria, to fight in Libya alongside the Government of National Accord (GNA).
“As far as Libya, the United States supports an immediate end to external interference, and the involvement of foreign mercenaries in the conflict in Libya. We want all sides to return to the political process,” Department of Defense spokesperson, Commander Candice Tresch said. Adding that “Washington has called for an immediate ceasefire, and said that respect of the UN arms embargo by all parties, is imperative,”

Cairo has threatened to intervene militarily with Egyptian President Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi ordering his army to prepare for possible military action.
