On Wednesday, the Head of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed al-Mnifi, received the French Ambassador to Libya, Mostafa Mihraje, at the council’s headquarters in Tripoli.

The two sides discussed the developments in the political, economic, and security situations in Libya, according to a statement by the Presidential Council.

The meeting addressed the work of the High Finance Committee and the outcomes of the tripartite meeting held in Cairo last month.

They also discussed the Council’s steps to address the political deadlock and bridge the gaps between Libyan parties, aiming to achieve free and fair elections inclusive of all Libyans without exclusion.

On Monday, Mihraje met with Libya’s Minister of Transportation, Mohammed Shahoubi, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Tripoli.

The meeting underscored the longstanding cooperative ties between the two nations. Al-Shahoubi expressed the importance of continuing to strengthen these relations across various sectors.

A key focus of their discussions was the potential for cooperation with French companies in the aviation sector, emphasising air transport, maintenance, and training.

Al-Shahoubi specifically invited French companies to return and engage in the Libyan market to contribute to development projects and reconstruction efforts, particularly in transportation projects and the ambitious transit route project from Libya to Africa.

In another context, Deputy Head of the Libyan Presidential Council, Musa Al-Koni, received an official invitation to participate in the International Humanitarian Conference for Sudan and its Neighbours.

The invitation was extended during his meeting with Mihraje. The Conference is scheduled to take place in Paris in mid-April.

The French Ambassador expressed his country’s appreciation for the participation of the Presidential Council in this important global event, which will bring together regional and international parties concerned.

Mihraje explained that the objective of the conference is to coordinate various international and regional initiatives aimed at resolving the crisis that has been affecting Sudan since the outbreak of armed confrontations between conflicting parties.

Al-Koni stated that what is happening in Sudan, or any neighboring country, directly impacts the security and stability of Libya. He highlighted the recent neutral reception of the conflict parties in Tripoli to find urgent and effective solutions to the crisis.
