The Libyan Football League is set to make its return this coming Thursday, April 18th, marking the kickoff of the sixth round for both Group One and Group Two.

The schedule for Thursday, April 18th, includes Al Ittihad Misrata facing Al Bashaer at Al Shuhada Stadium, and Asaria going up against Al Khums at Al Zawiya Stadium. On Friday, April 19th, Abu Salim will meet Al Ittihad at Abu Salim Stadium, while Al Sweihli will play against Al Mal’ab Al Libi at Al Jamil Stadium.

The action continues on Saturday, April 20th, with Al Madina and Al Ahli Tripoli squaring off at Al Nahr Stadium at 7:00 PM. Group Two’s matches kick off on Saturday, April 20th, as well, with Al Sadaqa meeting Al Maroj at Shahat Stadium, and Al Anwar facing Al Soqoor at Al Anwar Stadium.

Sunday, April 21st, sees Al Hilal versus Al Tahaddi at Benina Stadium, and Al Ta’awun up against Al Akhdar at Ajdabiya Stadium. The league action wraps up on Monday, April 22nd, with Al Ahli Benghazi taking on Al Nasr at Martyrs of Benina Stadium.

This return of the Libyan Football League marks a highly anticipated moment for football fans across the country, promising exciting matchups across both groups.

Notably, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has demanded administrative and legal penalties against the Libyan team, Abu Salim.

The EFA filed a complaint with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after some players from the Libyan team assaulted Egyptian referee Mohamed Marouf during a game against Morocco’s Renaissance Berkane in the CAF Confederation Cup.

The match was tied 2-2 until the 90+7th minute, with Renaissance Berkane scoring what seemed like a qualifying goal before it was disallowed. However, the Moroccan club scored again in the 90+15th minute, which Abu Salim’s players deemed excessive injury time.

Following the goal, there was a confrontation between Abu Salim players and Egyptian referee Mohamed Marouf, resulting in Marouf showing a red card to Abu Salim player Hussam Miftah Al-Abani.
