The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has launched a new digital art campaign to encourage young Libyans to share their ideas and aspirations for the country’s future through creative expression.
In a statement published on its official Facebook page, the mission announced the launch of the “Youth Voices for Libya’s Future” campaign, inviting young people from across Libya to submit original digital artwork reflecting their vision for the country’s development and the challenges they believe should be addressed.
According to UNSMIL, participants are asked to focus their submissions on one of three key themes: youth and climate action, youth and education and skills, or youth and healthy communities. The campaign seeks to amplify young voices and encourage discussions on issues that directly affect Libya’s future.
The mission said artwork may explore topics such as climate change, water scarcity, environmental protection, education, entrepreneurship, innovation, employment opportunities, mental and physical health, sports, and healthy lifestyles. Through the initiative, UNSMIL aims to provide young Libyans with an opportunity to communicate their ideas and priorities using creative digital media.
The campaign welcomes a wide range of original digital art formats, including digital illustrations, graphic design, posters, comics, cartoons, and three-dimensional artwork. UNSMIL encouraged artists, designers, and other young creatives to submit original works that align with the campaign’s announced themes.
The mission emphasized that only original submissions directly related to the campaign’s focus areas will be considered during the evaluation process. Entries that do not meet the required themes or guidelines will not be accepted.
UNSMIL has set August 9, 2026, as the deadline for submitting entries and encouraged interested participants to send their work before the closing date.
The initiative forms part of the UN mission’s broader efforts to increase youth participation in public dialogue and support greater engagement in issues related to sustainable development, education, environmental protection, public health, and community development.
