Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, convened a meeting on Monday with the Chief of General Staff, the Deputy Minister of Interior, the Director of Benghazi Security Directorate, the Director of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation, and the Head of Internal Security. This meeting followed Haftar’s earlier discussion with a delegation from the Al-Drissi tribe.
During the meeting, Haftar emphasized the need for all security agencies and their leaders to intensify efforts to uncover the circumstances surrounding the kidnapping of Member of Parliament Ibrahim Al Drissi. He stressed the urgency of returning Al Drissi safely to his family and apprehending those responsible for the abduction.
Earlier today, Field Marshal Haftar met with the elders of the Al-Drissi tribe at his office in the General Command headquarters in Benghazi. The meeting was attended by Chief of General Staff General Abdulrazek Al-Nadori and other security officials.
The purpose of the meeting was to review the latest developments in the kidnapping case of MP Ibrahim Al Drissi and to receive updates on the ongoing investigations.
Notably, the Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives, Ageela Saleh, issued a directive to intensify the search for the abducted MP Ibrahim Al-Drissi. The order was sent to the Parliament’s Defense and National Security Committee, the Internal Affairs Committee, the Minister of Interior, and the Head of the Internal Security Agency appointed by the House of Representatives.
Ibrahim Al-Drissi disappeared earlier this month after attending a ceremony in Benghazi commemorating the anniversary of the “Al Karama “Dignity “military Operation,” according to MP Abdel-Moneim Al-Arfi.
In his message to the concerned authorities, Ageela Saleh stressed the need to take all necessary measures, urging security agencies to intensify their efforts and report back with the investigation results. The directive conveyed through a statement by House spokesperson Abdullah Blehig, highlighted the urgency of continuing the search until Al-Drissi is found.
