The Union of Employees of the Justice Sector and Judicial Bodies has announced a nationwide suspension of work across Libya starting on 30 July, calling on the authorities to implement Law No. 2 of 2025, which provides for salary increases for employees in the justice sector and judicial institutions.
In a statement, the union said the work stoppage would remain in effect until the salary increase law is enforced, arguing that justice sector employees have waited too long for the legislation to be implemented.
The union urged the relevant authorities to take immediate steps to enforce the law, describing the move as necessary to protect the financial rights of employees working in courts, prosecution offices, and other judicial institutions across Libya.
The planned suspension is expected to affect the daily operations of courts and judicial bodies nationwide if no agreement is reached before the announced date.
The announcement adds pressure on the government to address the long-standing salary issue and avoid disruptions to the country’s judicial system.
