The Ministry of Economy and Trade of the Libyan Government of National Unity (GNU) discussed enhancing economic, investment, and technological cooperation with representatives of 18 Chinese companies on Monday.

The meeting also covered the incentives and benefits available to investors.

The discussions took place between the Advisor to the Minister of Economy and Trade, Shather Al-Sayd, the Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce, Wang Hongqiao, and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade in Henan Province.

The Chairman of the Libyan-Chinese Joint Chamber of Commerce, Naim Abu Abdullah, and the Director of the Department of Foreign Trade and International Cooperation at the ministry, Essam Al-Malhouf, were also in attendance.

The meeting focused on the available investment opportunities in Libya, particularly those involving foreign participation. Both sides encouraged the private sector to form partnerships that would localize industries, modern technologies, and create job opportunities for youth.

The discussion also touched on the importance of enhancing cross-border trade, especially following the elevation of Libya-China relations to a strategic partnership level.
