In a recent meeting held at the UAE Embassy in Tunis, Mohamed Ali Al Shamsi, the UAE Ambassador to Libya, hosted Jeremy Berndt, the US Chargé d’Affaires to Libya. The diplomatic encounter emphasised the strong and strategic relationship between the United Arab Emirates and the United States, particularly concerning Libya.

According to a statement from the UAE Embassy, the two diplomats underscored the deep-rooted strategic ties between their countries. They exchanged views on various issues of common interest and focused heavily on the ongoing developments in Libya. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continuing their cooperation in supporting stability in the North African country.

In a separate statement on the US Embassy’s account on X (formerly known as Twitter), Jeremy Berndt highlighted the significance of international unity in supporting the mediation efforts of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).

Brint emphasised that unified global backing for the UN’s role is critical to advancing peace and political reconciliation in Libya.

The meeting reflects the growing international concern for Libya’s political instability and the need for cohesive international engagement to support the UN’s efforts.

Both nations remain key players in regional diplomacy, contributing to broader peace initiatives aimed at stabilising Libya.

The UAE and the US have previously supported various peace and reconciliation efforts in the region, and this latest diplomatic interaction signals a continued focus on securing Libya’s future.
