On Wednesday, the Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, visited Benghazi University to inspect progress on several ongoing construction projects.

Accompanying Haftar were Prime Minister Osama Hammad, Director-General of the Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund, Belgassim Khalifa Haftar, Chief of Security Staff Khaled Haftar, and Dr. Seddik Haftar.

The tour covered the development of new buildings for the Faculties of Economics, Arts, and Engineering, clearly focusing on enhancing Libya’s education sector and infrastructure. Haftar emphasized the importance of these projects in revitalizing academic institutions and creating a modern learning environment that can support the country’s future growth.

This visit is part of broader efforts to rebuild key sectors in eastern Libya, which has suffered significant damage during years of conflict. With the situation in the region stabilizing, the reconstruction of schools, universities, and public infrastructure has become a top priority, reflecting a commitment to national recovery and development.

Haftar stressed that investments in education are essential for long-term stability, as they equip future generations with the skills needed to drive economic progress and strengthen national unity. The involvement of senior officials, including the Prime Minister and the head of the Reconstruction Fund, highlights the government’s focus on infrastructure development and rebuilding the educational system as part of Libya’s post-conflict recovery.

By improving educational facilities at institutions like Benghazi University, Libya aims to empower its students and foster innovation. The modernization of these academic spaces reflects a vision of self-sufficiency and resilience, aligning with ongoing efforts to stabilize the region and promote national progress.

This visit also symbolizes the strategic importance of cooperation between Libya’s military leadership, government institutions, and reconstruction authorities to ensure that infrastructure projects are completed efficiently. As Benghazi continues to recover, these initiatives are expected to enhance public services and provide a solid foundation for future development across the region.
