On Monday, the Little Hearts – Libya campaign launched its ninth visit to the Heart Center in Tajoura, Tripoli, where it aims to provide free catheterization surgeries for 50 children suffering from congenital heart defects.

This volunteer-driven initiative will run until November 30, offering hope and medical care to children from across Libya.

Organized by the UK-based charity “Forum Aid,” the campaign is powered by a team of specialized pediatric cardiologists, anesthesiologists, nurses, and technicians. The initiative relies entirely on charitable donations to provide these critical medical services at no cost to families or hospitals.

The “Little Hearts” campaign plays a crucial role in addressing congenital heart defects, which are among the most common birth defects globally. In Libya, where advanced pediatric cardiac care is limited, this initiative bridges a critical healthcare gap.

During its eighth visit in January, the team successfully performed 50 free catheterization surgeries for children. The operations were supported by a €70,000 donation from ABC Bank, which covered all expenses, ensuring that families faced no financial burden.

The campaign’s focus extends beyond individual surgeries. By collaborating with Libyan healthcare providers, the team also trains local medical professionals, helping to build sustainable expertise within the country’s healthcare system.

The success of the “Little Hearts” initiative highlights the power of international collaboration and volunteerism. It demonstrates how global partnerships can bring advanced medical care to underserved regions, saving lives and providing hope to vulnerable families.

As Libya continues to rebuild its healthcare system amid ongoing challenges, campaigns like “Little Hearts” underline the importance of philanthropy and global solidarity. Continued support from donors and volunteers will be vital to sustaining this life-changing initiative and expanding its reach to even more children in need.
