Abdulmutalib Thabit officially began his role as Libya’s new ambassador to Egypt on Wednesday, succeeding Acting Charge d’Affaires Mohamed Abdel Aali.
Thabit now holds the dual responsibilities of being Libya’s ambassador to Egypt and its permanent representative to the Arab League.
After formally assuming his duties, Ambassador Thabit toured the Libyan embassy in Cairo to assess ongoing operations and address citizens’ needs.
The ambassador emphasised the importance of promptly meeting the requirements of Libyan nationals residing in or visiting Egypt, as well as assisting students pursuing their studies in the country.
Thabit underscored the need for efficient service delivery and collaboration among embassy staff to resolve any challenges that might hinder workflow.
He called on the team to streamline processes and ensure all services are accessible to Libyan citizens, reinforcing the embassy’s commitment to its community.
The ambassador’s appointment reflects Libya’s efforts to strengthen its diplomatic presence and improve support for its citizens abroad. With a focus on efficiency and responsiveness, the embassy aims to address longstanding issues and foster better relations between Libya and Egypt.
