The President of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Yamahi, has commended Libya’s consistent support for Arab causes and its dedication to strengthening joint Arab action at all levels. He emphasised Libya’s role in shaping a unified Arab stance in regional and international forums.

Al-Yamahi made these remarks during a meeting with Libya’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Ambassador Abdulmutallab Thabet. He reaffirmed the Arab Parliament’s full support for Libya’s stability, unity, and national security, which he described as an integral part of Arab national security.

The meeting, held on Wednesday, was attended by Libyan representatives in the Arab Parliament, including Dr. Ahlam Al-Lafi, Chair of the Social, Educational, Cultural, Women and Youth Affairs Committee, and MPs Abu Salah Shalabi and Hassan Al-Barghouthi.

Al-Yamahi stressed the Arab Parliament’s commitment to strengthening ties with the Libyan House of Representatives in the coming period. He praised the contributions of Libyan MPs to advancing Arab parliamentary cooperation through their active initiatives and constructive efforts to promote Arab solidarity.

For his part, Ambassador Thabet reaffirmed Libya’s commitment to supporting joint Arab action and the role of the Arab Parliament, describing it as a key representative body for the Arab people. He expressed Libya’s readiness to fully cooperate with the Arab Parliament in the coming phase to enhance its role in serving Arab interests.

Libyan MPs in the Arab Parliament welcomed Al-Yamahi’s visit to Libya’s delegation headquarters at the Arab League, reaffirming Libya’s longstanding support for the Arab Parliament since its establishment. They pledged continued efforts to strengthen the institution’s role within the Arab cooperation framework.

Both Ambassador Thabet and the Libyan MPs expressed their eagerness to host Al-Yamahi in Libya soon, aiming to enhance coordination between the Arab Parliament and Libya on multiple fronts.
