In a significant move to bolster Libya’s international diplomatic presence, the Libyan Foreign Minister, Abdul Hadi Al-Hwaij, held a comprehensive meeting in Benghazi today. The session focused on enhancing diplomatic performance and facilitating the tasks of diplomatic and consular missions in the city, reflecting Libya’s strategic efforts to strengthen its global diplomatic engagement.

The meeting included the Director of Protocol and the Benghazi Protocol Office Manager, along with department heads responsible for administration. A thorough review of the administration’s performance was conducted, and challenges were discussed. Minister Al-Hwaij emphasised the need to streamline and facilitate procedures for diplomatic missions and consulates operating in Benghazi, offering all possible support while adhering to established diplomatic regulations and improving the quality of services and protocols for official delegations.

This initiative is part of the Foreign Ministry’s broader strategy to enhance Libya’s diplomatic presence on the international stage and activate Benghazi as a key diplomatic hub. This reflects the Libyan government’s commitment to enhancing foreign relations and providing an accommodating environment for diplomatic and consular missions.

The facilitation of diplomatic missions in Benghazi is expected to attract more foreign investments and boost economic and cultural cooperation with other countries. Minister Al-Hwaij reiterated the importance of adhering to international standards in diplomatic work and delivering high-quality services to official delegations, which underscores Libya’s commitment to fostering its foreign relations based on mutual respect and constructive cooperation.

This meeting marks a critical step towards strengthening Libya’s foreign relations and enhancing Benghazi’s role as a significant diplomatic center. It is anticipated that these efforts will improve Libya’s international image, attract more foreign investments, and enhance economic and cultural ties with other nations.
