The Libyan Embassy in Abu Dhabi has denied claims circulating online that the United Arab Emirates intends to suspend the issuance of tourist and work visas for Libyan nationals.

In a statement released on Sunday, the embassy described the reports as “false” and stressed that no official decision has been issued by the UAE authorities regarding restrictions on Libyan citizens. The clarification came after several news outlets and social media accounts alleged that Libya was among nine countries facing a visa suspension.

“The embassy has not received any formal notification or circular from the competent UAE authorities concerning the suspension or suspension of tourist or work visas for Libyan nationals,” the statement read.

It further noted that all the reports currently circulating are derived from unofficial sources and lack confirmation from government bodies in the Emirates. The embassy urged Libyan citizens to exercise caution and to rely only on information published through official diplomatic channels or authorised UAE institutions.

The embassy also appealed to the public not to spread unverified information, warning that such rumours could cause unnecessary confusion and concern among Libyan communities in the UAE and those planning to travel.

The UAE hosts a sizeable Libyan expatriate community, many of whom live and work in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah.

By issuing the statement, the Libyan mission in Abu Dhabi sought to reassure citizens and underline the importance of verified communication between governments and their nationals abroad.
