Libya’s Saddam Haftar Meets Italian Ambassador

The Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, met in his office at the General Command headquarters with Italy’s Ambassador to Libya, Gianluca Alberini, the Italian military attaché, Navy Colonel Massimiliano Graziozzo, and Consul General in Benghazi, Francesco Saverio De Luigi.

The discussions focused on the latest developments on the local and regional fronts, as well as a number of shared files between Libya and Italy. These included cooperation in combating illegal migration, Italy’s participation in reconstruction efforts and infrastructure development, and enhancing economic collaboration between the two countries.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation across various fields, with emphasis on security coordination, investment, and the engagement of Italian companies in Libya’s rebuilding process.

The meeting underscored the importance of mutual coordination to address regional challenges and support stability and development in Libya.
