The Foreign Ministry of the Parliament-designate Libyan government has urged Libyan nationals residing in Guinea-Bissau to take the highest level of precaution amid the country’s escalating instability. The ministry issued the warning in an official statement, stressing the need for citizens to comply strictly with the directives and security guidance issued by local authorities.
In its advisory, the ministry called on Libyans currently living in Guinea-Bissau to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary movement, and stay informed about developments through official channels. It also emphasised the importance of adhering to safety measures and cooperating with local security agencies to ensure their wellbeing.
The statement further recommended that Libyan citizens refrain from travelling to and from Guinea-Bissau at this time due to the volatile situation. The ministry highlighted that travel restrictions are a temporary protective measure aimed at safeguarding Libyan nationals until stability is restored.
Officials expressed their sincere wishes for Guinea-Bissau to regain peace and security as soon as possible. They reiterated Libya’s support for the stability of the West African nation, noting that the safety of Libyan citizens abroad remains a top priority for the Foreign Ministry and the government.
The ministry confirmed it is closely monitoring developments through its diplomatic channels and will issue further guidance if the situation changes. It reassured citizens that consular services remain available for those who may require assistance, urging them to contact the Libyan mission responsible for their affairs if they face any emergency.
The advisory comes as part of a broader effort by the Libyan authorities to protect their nationals abroad during periods of political unrest or security deterioration in host countries. The government reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining communication with Libyan communities worldwide and providing timely updates when necessary.
The ministry concluded by hoping for a swift return to stability in Guinea-Bissau and for the safety of all Libyan citizens in the region.
