The Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, expressed strong confidence in Libya’s future, stating that the country would achieve security and stability under the leadership of Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army, and Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, Deputy Commander-in-Chief.
Speaking during his official visit to Benghazi, General Munir praised the role of the Libyan armed forces in confronting terrorism and restoring order, urging Libyans to stand firmly behind their national military institution. He described Libya as a country with a proud history of resistance and sacrifice, noting that its legacy of struggle against colonialism remains a source of national strength.
The Pakistani army chief said he was deeply pleased with the warm reception accorded to him and his delegation, describing Libya and Pakistan as brotherly nations bound by shared values and mutual respect. He emphasized that bilateral relations between the two countries have strong potential for growth and should be elevated to a level that reflects their common interests and aspirations.
General Munir highlighted Libya’s symbolic importance in the region, referencing its historical role in resisting foreign domination, and stressed that there should be no fear for Libya’s future given the presence of a strong and organized military leadership. He noted that Pakistan is keen to expand cooperation with Libya through structured military engagement and long-term partnerships.
In remarks underscoring military solidarity, General Munir stated that Pakistan is prepared to share its experience, expertise, and military technologies with the Libyan National Army, in line with mutually agreed frameworks. He said that Pakistan’s capabilities would be available to support Libya’s armed forces in strengthening professionalism, training, and operational readiness.
During the visit, the Pakistani army chief held talks with Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, during which he commended the leadership of Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar and praised what he described as the Libyan National Army’s successes in combating terrorism and securing large parts of the country.
