Libya’s Prime Minister, Osama Hammad, carried out an extensive field visit to the city of Kufra, accompanied by the Director General of the Development and Reconstruction Fund, Belgassem Haftar, as part of the government’s efforts to strengthen stability, advance national reconciliation, and accelerate development in southern Libya.

The visit was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Ahmid Houma, Head of the National Development Agency Jibril Al-Badri, and Director of Projects at the Development Fund Hatem Al-Aribi.

During the tour, Prime Minister Hammad held a series of meetings with the mayors of Kufra, Rebiana, and Al-Jawf Al-Gharbi, alongside elders and notables from the Zway and Tebu tribes.

The meetings focused on reinforcing social peace and supporting the ongoing national reconciliation process in Kufra. Representatives of the Zway and Tebu tribes engaged in intensive consultations aimed at implementing the provisions of a comprehensive reconciliation agreement designed to achieve a final and lasting settlement.

Discussions addressed practical mechanisms for implementation, paving the way for the formal signing of a peace accord and a charter of brotherhood and peaceful coexistence.

Government officials emphasized that reconciliation remains a central pillar for enhancing security, restoring stability, and creating a favorable environment for sustainable development. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to closing the chapter of past disputes and safeguarding the unity of Kufra’s social fabric.

The visit also included discussions on a package of new development projects intended to improve public services and living conditions across the city. The proposed projects cover key sectors such as water supply, electricity, healthcare, education, youth and sports facilities, and family recreational spaces.

Prime Minister Hammad stressed that development and reconciliation are inseparable, noting that long-term stability depends on both social harmony and equitable access to services. The visit reflects the government’s broader strategy to ensure balanced development across all regions and to support southern communities through targeted reconstruction and investment efforts.
