The Deputy President of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Ahmed Maiteeq, requested the Presidential Council (PC) to suspend a decision to reform the Board of Trustees for the Economic and Social Development Fund. This is in accordance with Presidential Council Resolution No. 571 of 2020.

In a letter addressed to the PC, Maiteeq explained that it was agreed that the Council’s decisions require their presentation to the deputies and members together. Decisions also need to be issued according to official reports. “Therefore, this demands suspension, and withdrawal of the aforementioned decision for the aforementioned reasons”, Maiteeq argued in his letter.

Earlier, the PC ordered the restructuring of the Board of Trustees, headed by Maiteeq.
According to the decision, the new members of the Board of Trustees are the Minister of Planning, the Minister of Finance and Economy, the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labor and Rehabilitation, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs.
