The Libyan Border Guard has detained 41 irregular migrants of various African nationalities during a large-scale security operation carried out in the Al-Qaryat and Abu Al-Gharb areas, as part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal migration.
According to an official statement, patrol units from the Border Guard’s local security sector conducted coordinated raids across several locations used for unlawful sheltering. The operation resulted in the discovery of migrants inside illegal premises and hideouts, all of which were fully evacuated.
Legal Measures Taken
The Border Guard said the migrants were transferred to the sector’s headquarters pending their handover to the competent authorities, where legal procedures will be completed in line with applicable regulations.
Officials confirmed that all necessary legal measures were taken following the operation, emphasizing that the campaign forms part of sustained security efforts to combat irregular migration and dismantle networks involved in facilitating illegal movement.
Ongoing Security Efforts
The operation reflects Libya’s broader security strategy aimed at tightening border control, enforcing the law, and addressing the challenges posed by irregular migration, particularly in areas used as transit routes.
Authorities stressed that similar operations will continue to be carried out to maintain security and limit violations linked to illegal migration.
