Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdel Aaty discussed the latest developments in Libya with Massad Boulos, Senior Adviser to the US President for Arab and African Affairs, during a meeting that also reviewed a number of regional issues of mutual concern.

Abdel Aaty reiterated Egypt’s firm and longstanding position in support of Libya’s unity and territorial integrity, stressing the need to preserve the country’s sovereignty and stability. He underlined Cairo’s rejection of any foreign interference or the presence of foreign military forces on Libyan soil, calling for a comprehensive Libyan-led solution that reflects the will of the Libyan people and safeguards national independence.

The Egyptian foreign minister emphasized the importance of pushing forward the political process in Libya in order to pave the way for holding presidential and parliamentary elections simultaneously at the earliest possible date. He also reaffirmed that the withdrawal of all foreign forces and mercenaries from Libya is a fundamental requirement for achieving lasting stability and ending the country’s political and institutional division.

The talks highlighted Egypt’s continued engagement with international partners to support a political settlement in Libya based on national consensus, the restoration of state institutions, and the establishment of a unified, legitimate authority capable of leading the country toward security, stability, and sustainable development.
