Royal Jordanian Airlines has officially launched its first scheduled flight to Misrata International Airport, marking an important step in strengthening air connectivity between Libya and Jordan and expanding regional flight options to the country.

The inaugural flight arrived on Thursday morning from Queen Alia International Airport in Amman. Operated by an Embraer E190-E2 aircraft, the flight touched down at 11:30 a.m. local time and was welcomed with an official reception attended by representatives of the Misrata Municipal Council, airport officials, and aviation staff. The arrival was marked by a traditional water cannon salute, symbolizing the start of regular air services on the route.

According to Misrata Municipality, the launch of Royal Jordanian’s Misrata service represents the resumption of regular passenger flights between Libya and Jordan through the city, offering travelers a reliable new option after years of limited international connectivity. With this move, Royal Jordanian becomes the third major regional carrier to operate three routes to Libya, following Turkish Airlines and EgyptAir.

The airline will operate two flights per week between Amman and Misrata, scheduled on Sundays and Thursdays. Local authorities expect the route to significantly ease travel for Libyan citizens, particularly business travelers, students, and medical patients, while also providing smoother onward connections through Royal Jordanian’s extensive international network.

In addition to Misrata, Royal Jordanian Airlines already operates regular flights to Benina International Airport in Benghazi and Mitiga International Airport in Tripoli, reinforcing its growing presence in the Libyan market.
