Ageela Saleh, Speaker of Libya’s House of Representatives, has taken part in the opening session of the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, currently being held in Istanbul.

The high-level parliamentary gathering, hosted in Turkey, is being held under the theme “Promoting Hope, Ensuring Peace, and Protecting Justice for Future Generations,” bringing together representatives from around 160 countries.

Saleh was accompanied by an official Libyan delegation that included First Deputy Speaker Fawzi Al-Nuwairi, along with members of the Libyan parliamentary group within the IPU, including Sultanah Al-Mesmari, Rabia Abu Ras, and Fatima Al-Suwai.

The participation highlights Libya’s continued engagement in international parliamentary diplomacy, as the country seeks to strengthen its presence on global platforms and contribute to discussions on governance, peace, and legislative cooperation.

The IPU Assembly serves as a key forum for lawmakers worldwide to exchange views on pressing international issues, including conflict resolution, human rights, and sustainable development. Libya’s delegation is expected to take part in a series of sessions and meetings aimed at fostering dialogue and enhancing cooperation between national parliaments.

The event, which began on Wednesday, will continue until 19 April, featuring a wide agenda focused on promoting democratic values and strengthening parliamentary institutions worldwide.
