Egypt has reaffirmed its support for the participation of its national companies in Libya’s reconstruction efforts, underscoring the importance of strengthening economic cooperation and historic ties between the two countries.

During a visit to Benghazi, Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs Haddad El-Gohary held an extensive interactive meeting with members of the Egyptian community. The discussions formed part of ongoing engagements with Egyptian nationals residing in Libya.

El-Gohary stressed that supporting Egyptians abroad remains a top priority for the Egyptian government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He highlighted ongoing coordination with Libyan authorities to address community concerns and improve consular services, noting that efforts to modernise consular support both inside and outside Egypt are continuing.

He also encouraged members of the diaspora to benefit from state-backed initiatives designed to support Egyptians living overseas, which were presented during the meeting.

Following the community engagement, El-Gohary met with representatives and executives of Egyptian companies operating in Libya. The companies outlined their ongoing projects and achievements, particularly in sectors linked to reconstruction and infrastructure development.

The Egyptian official praised their commitment to delivering projects efficiently in cooperation with Libyan partners. He emphasised that Egyptian companies play a vital role in Libya’s rebuilding process, with Cairo keen to expand their contribution in line with broader development goals.

El-Gohary noted that such collaboration not only supports Libya’s recovery but also reinforces long-standing ties between the two neighbouring nations.

As part of the visit, he toured the Egyptian-Libyan Joint School in Benghazi, which follows the Egyptian curriculum and serves more than 900 Egyptian students. He reviewed the educational process and inspected school facilities, reaffirming Egypt’s commitment to supporting its citizens abroad through education and community services.
