Libya’s People’s Voice Party has called for what it described as international accountability regarding the consequences of international intervention in Libya, urging a national and global discussion on the political and moral responsibility arising from years of foreign involvement in the country’s affairs.

In a statement, the party said the issue of international responsibility for Libya’s current situation has become a central national concern linked to the country’s future and the restoration of its sovereignty.

According to the party, the debate extends beyond academic and political circles and concerns the right of Libyans to understand the factors behind the repeated setbacks in efforts to achieve stability, as well as the persistence of political and institutional crises that have affected the country over recent years.

The party argued that Libya has, for the past fifteen years, become a testing ground for international political approaches and initiatives that failed to deliver the desired outcomes. It claimed that United Nations-sponsored political processes contributed to deepening political divisions, weakening state institutions, and worsening internal challenges.

The statement said holding the United Nations accountable for the outcomes of policies and mechanisms used in managing the Libyan file should be viewed as both a political and human rights demand aimed at securing justice for the Libyan people, who have borne the consequences of conflict, political fragmentation, and competing international interests for years.

The People’s Voice Party also criticised what it described as an approach focused on managing the crisis rather than resolving it. It argued that several international initiatives and UN-backed processes failed to produce lasting solutions to Libya’s political crisis and instead contributed to further complications and prolonged divisions.

The party stressed the importance of documenting the history of international involvement in Libya from both political and human rights perspectives. It called on researchers, legal experts, human rights advocates, and public affairs specialists to prepare studies and reports examining the different stages of Libya’s crisis management and their long-term consequences.

It added that rebuilding the Libyan state requires an independent national will based on the principles of sovereignty and the right of Libyans to determine their own future free from external influence. The party urged national actors to unite efforts and transform the issue of international responsibility into a national project aimed at defending Libya’s rights through political and legal channels.

The statement concluded that Libya’s future should be built on purely national foundations that place the interests of the state and its citizens above all other considerations. The party reaffirmed its commitment to reviewing past experiences and evaluating their outcomes as part of the search for sustainable solutions to Libya’s prolonged political crisis.
