Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army (LNA), officially inaugurated the lower roadway of the Wadi Al-Kouf Bridge, marking the completion of a major infrastructure project aimed at improving transportation and supporting development across eastern Libya.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Osama Hammad, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army, Saddam Haftar, Director-General of the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund, Belgasem Haftar, as well as members of the House of Representatives, local officials, tribal leaders, and residents of the region.
The opening follows the completion of construction, technical preparations, and safety measures, all carried out in accordance with modern engineering standards. The project is one of several strategic infrastructure initiatives aimed at strengthening Libya’s transportation network and improving connectivity between cities and communities.
Officials said the newly opened roadway is expected to ease traffic congestion, reduce travel times, and facilitate the movement of people and goods throughout the region. Improved road access is also expected to support economic activity, enhance public services, and contribute to broader development efforts.
The Wadi Al-Kouf project forms part of an extensive reconstruction and infrastructure program being implemented by the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund in various cities and regions.
The program focuses on upgrading roads, bridges, public facilities, and other essential infrastructure to support long-term growth and improve living conditions.
During the ceremony, officials highlighted the importance of investing in transportation infrastructure as a foundation for economic development and regional integration. They noted that modern road networks play a critical role in facilitating trade, improving access to services, and connecting communities across the country.
