On Monday, the Defence Minister of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Colonel Salah Al-Din Al-Nimroush, received Pakistan’s Ambassador to Libya, Sajid Iqbal. The two discussed ways of enhancing military cooperation.

“The meeting dealt with the distinguished relations between the two sides, in various fields, especially defence,” the GNA’s MoD said in a statement. They also touched on the importance of strengthening, and developing joint cooperation in training members of the GNA armed forces.

Al-Nimroush appreciated Pakistan’s support for the Libyan people, and the GNA. He also affirmed the ministry’s determination to further develop, and strengthen relations with Islamabad in all fields of common interest.

Last week, Al-Nimroush received Elmer Cato, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Philippine Embassy to Libya. Cato confirmed his country’s desire to strengthen cooperation between Tripoli and Manila. This would be in the fields of joint maritime exercises, and information exchange.
