On Tuesday, the Interior Minister of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Fathi Bashagha, said that Libya was now ready to announce a political agreement bringing together all Libyans. He pointed out that the results and outcomes of the external meetings between the two parties are proof of this.

During a meeting with the head of the European Union’s mission to Libya, Jose Antonio Sabadell in Tripoli, Bashagha stated, “Libya is looking forward to the support of EU states in all fields, especially service ones.” He added that, “The Libyans are looking for a single political leadership that would lead the country to safety, and prosperity.”

The Ministry quoted Sabadell’s expression of hope for, “The return of the reins of affairs to the Libyans, without any external interference.”

The two sides also reviewed European-Libyan cooperation in all fields, especially Italian-Libyan cooperation on migration.
