Austrian FM Calls for Immediate Withdrawal of Foreign Forces from Libya

The Austrian Foreign Minister, Alexander Schallenberg, called for the immediate withdrawal of all foreign forces in Libya, without exception. He urged all parties to comply with this request.

Schallenberg welcomed the recent ceasefire agreement in Libya and noted that the responsibility for implementing it lies not only with the parties to the conflict, but also with the international community.

In a statement issued by the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Schallenberg stressed the necessity of adherence to the UN arms embargo. He noted that the flagrant violations of the embargo imposed by the United Nations must end.

This comes at a time when rumours are spreading about attempts by Turkey and Qatar to thwart the recently signed ceasefire agreement in Geneva. The acting Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Stephanie Williams, revealed the intention of the UN Security Council to punish all those who obstruct the ceasefire agreement.
